Special Buddhist Circuit Train

Indian Railway introduces Special Train for Buddhist pilgrimages

To mark the special occasion of His Holiness the Dalai Lama’s teachings in Dharamsala from 4th -7th October 2010, the Indian Railway Catering & Tourism Corporation Ltd. will run a special train for Buddhist pilgrimages. The Buddhist Circuit Special Train will traverse the spiritual journey in the footsteps of Lord Buddha.

Day-1  (8 Oct’ 2010):-

Depart Pathankot by Buddhist Circuit Special Train at 11 hrs to Gaya. Overnight stay,   Lunch & Dinner on-board

Day-2

(9 Oct’ 2010):-

Breakfast on board. Arrive Gaya. Visit Bodhgaya (15 Kms) temples. Check in at the hotel. Lunch, Dinner & overnight stay at the hotel.

Places to be visited:- Mahabodhi Temple, Niranjana River, Dujata Kuti, ChineseTemple, Thai Temple, Japanese Temple etc.

Day-3

(10 Oct’ 2010):-

Breakfast. Depart for Rajgir & Nalanda. Lunch. Depart Gaya for Varanasi in the evening. Dinner & overnight stay on-board.

Places to be visited:- Bimbimsara Jail, Gridhakut Hill, Venuvan, Ruins of world famous Nalanda University, Nalanda Museum etc.

Day-4

(11 Oct’ 2010):-

Arrive Varanasi in the evening. Breakfast. Visit Sarnath. Lunch. Visit the Ganges for the evening Aarti and depart Varanasi for Gorakhpur in the evening. Dinner & overnight stay on-board.

Places to be visited:- Boat Ride at River Ganges, Dhamekh Stupa, Sarnath Museum, the Ashoka Pillar, Mulgandha Kuti Vihar

Day-5

(12 Oct’ 2010):-

Arrive Gorakhpur. Transfer to Kushinagar. Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner and overnight stay at the hotel.

Places to be visited:- Mahaparinirvan Temple, Rambhar Stupa, Mata Kutir Temple etc.

Day-6

(13 Oct’ 2010):-

Breakfast. Depart for Lumbini (approx. 200 Kms) by bus. Lunch at the hotel. Depart back to Gorakhpur by bus. Arrive Gorakhpur. Depart to Gonda by train. Dinner & overnight stay on-board.

Places to be visited:- Maya Devi Temple, Ashoka Pillar and Pushkarni Lake.

Day -7

(14 Oct’ 2010):-

Arrive Gonda in the morning, Proceed to Sravasti (65KMS). Breakfast. Check in at the hotel. Visit Sravasti. Lunch at the hotel. Depart back to Gonda by bus. Arrive Gonda. Depart Gonda to Agra. Dinner & overnight stay on board.

Places to be visited:- Jetvana Vigara, Pakki Kuti & Schat Mahet, Thai Temple

Day-8

(15 Oct’ 2010):-

Breakfast on-Board. Arrive Agra & Visit Taj Mahal. Depart Agra in the afternoon for Delhi. Lunch on-Board. Arrive Delhi in the evening.
