European MPs call for release of Tibetan filmmaker
October (Phayul): Lhamo Tso, wife of Dhondup Wangchen, a Tibetan filmmaker sentenced to 6 years in prison for making an amateur documentary film in Tibet,
is on a visit to Europe creating awareness and seeking support for the release of her husband who has also contracted Hepatitis B in prison.
A group of German lawmakers of the Interparty Group on Tibet in the German
parliament called for the release of Dhondup Wangchen. Lhamo also met with Markus Löning, German Federal Human Rights Commissioner, who leads the German human rights dialogue with China, and briefed him on her husband’s situation. She also met with the members of the German parliament’s Human Rights Committee.
In Paris, The Tibet Study Group, one of the largest groups in the French legislative also called for Dhondup Wangchen’s release.
