Delhi marks the 80th Birthday of His Holiness with an Exhibition

30 June 2015, New Delhi: Bureau of His Holiness the Dalai Lama and Tibetan community in Delhi in collaboration with India International Centre organizes a week long Exhibition on His Holiness the Dalai Lama at Art Gallery, India International Centre on 30 June 2015.

To mark the 80th Birthday of His Holiness the Dalai Lama, the exhibition is part of many events in Delhi to celebrate this year to express our profound happiness and gratitude to His Holiness for his visionary and compassionate leadership, and his contribution to humanity.

The exhibition features 80 photos of His Holiness the Dalai Lama, old Thangka Scrolls depicting the previous Dalai Lamas, 15 Replica thangka frames of the life history of the great Fourteenth Dalai Lama, video viewing of documentary films of His Holiness the Dalai Lama, and display of more than a hundred books authored by His Holiness.

During the inauguration, Tibetan Buddhist monks recited invocation prayers for the long life of His Holiness the Dalai Lama and world peace. Kasur Tempa Tsering, Delhi based Representative of His Holiness the Dalai Lama gave an introduction about the exhibition. Dr. Kapila Vatsyayan, Chairperson of IIC Asia project inaugurated the Exhibition and had elucidated the greatness of His Holiness the Dalai Lama. Many eminent guests like Prof. Lokesh Chandra, President of Indian Council for Cultural Relations; Mr. Ravi Thakur, Vice Chairperson of National Commission of Schedule Tribes; Mr. T. N. Shanoo, Member of Minority Commission; Major General Vinod Saighal (retd.); Venerable Geshe Dorji Damdul, Director of Tibet House, Delhi; and Mr. Wajahat Habibullah, Former Chairperson of Minority Commission attended the exhibition.

IMG_3317Many visitors expressed high compliments on the success of this exhibition and many national newspapers highlighted and made lengthy reviews on this exhibition. The exhibition is open to the public and will go on till 07 July 2015.

Apart from the exhibition, a panel discussion on His Holiness the Dalai Lama and his contribution to humanity will be held in IIC on 04 July with many distinguished panelists like Mr. Shivshankar Menon, Mr. Shyam Saran, Mr. Lalit Mansingh, Mr. Arun Shourie and Ven. Geshe Dorji Damdul.

On 05 July, around 500 Indians and Tibetans will participate in a walk for peace from Rajghat to Red Fort.

Tibetans in Delhi will celebrate the 80th Birthday of His Holiness the Dalai Lama at Samyeling Tibetan Settlement in Majnukatilla on 06 July 2015.
