CTA to hold special prayer services on 8 August
Special prayer services will be held in Tibetan communities across the world to mark the successful completion of Tibetan political leader Dr. Lobsang Sangay’s second year in office on 8 August, the Kashag secretariat said in a circular issued on 31 July.
The prayer service aims to express gratitude to Holiness the Dalai Lama’s blessings, guidance of Tibet’s spiritual protectors, unwavering faith and support of the Tibetan people, and dedication of civil servants of the Central Tibetan Administration, for their collective efforts in successfully carrying forward the Tibetan cause since Sikyong took office, and all those Tibetans who have self-immolated for the cause of Tibet since 2009.
In 2011, His Holiness the Dalai Lama brought an unprecedented democratic reform by devolving his political authority to the democratically-elected Tibetan leadership. Consequently, Dr Lobsang Sangay assumed the role of Sikyong or Tibetan political leader on 8 August 2011.
