China’s displaced lead poisoning units moving to Tibet?
Aug. 4 (Tibetan Review): Despite a report in China’s state media in 2006 confirming excessive levels of lead and the resultant “panic” among parents in the Kumbum county area in Qinghai, nothing has been done to address the problem.
Far from dealing with the problem, the local Chinese authorities were said to have allowed the mining enterprises producing the pollution to recently move local farmers off their land in order to expand the Ganhetan Industrial District.
