China sentence 4 Tibetans trying to flee Tibet
Jan. 13 (Phayul): A Chinese court in Tibetan capital Lhasa has sentenced 4 Tibetans to varying prison terms on charges of engaging in “separatist” behaviour and trying to escape to India, reported Bhod Ki Bhangchen, a Tibetan language weekly in exile.
Tsewang (23) and Lobsang Dhondor were sentenced to 2 years; Wangdak Nyima (40) to 3 years; and Dhondup Dorjee to 4 years in prison by the Lhasa Intermediate People’s Court on Dec. 22, 2010. The four hails from Nyemo County, Damshung, Damshung County, and Lhasa respectively.
They were arrested on their way to India.
