Why China banned Tibetan earthquake film
May 4 (HighPeaksPureEarth/by Woeser): A year after tragedy struck Tibetan area of Yushu, a documentary film about the April 14 earthquake was released. “Hope in a Disaster” portrays grief; contains some necessary reflections; and visions for the future. The documentary also praises the unity of the Tibetan people that was revived by the tragedy. Thousands of DVDs, meant for the families of the victims, had actually been brutally confiscated by the local legal officer.
