Tibetan monk burns to death protesting Chinese rule
Aug. 16 (Phayul/TIME): On Aug. 15, a 29-yr-old Tibetan monk named Tsewang Norbu from Kardze, eastern Tibet set himself on fire. And as he burned to death, he reportedly shouted slogans supporting freedom for Tibet.
The self-immolation was the second this year by a Tibetan monk inside Tibet. Both clerics were driven to desperation by a mounting Chinese crackdown on ethnic minorities and religious expression.
