Tibet gets new Chinese chief
Aug. 25 (Radio Free Asia): China has removed Zhang Qingli, its Communist Party in Tibet, three years after protests against rule by Beijing swept the region.
Robbie Barnett, director of the Modern Tibetan Studies Program at Columbia University said Zhang’s transfer was delayed for over five years “to avoid any impression that China’s policies in Tibet have failed.”
