NEW DELHI: Bureau of His Holiness the Dalai Lama, New Delhi hosted a dinner reception on the occasion of the 79th Birthday of His Holiness the Dalai Lama at India Habitat Centre, New Delhi.
The programme started with the welcome remark by Kasur Tempa Tsering, Representative of His Holiness the Dalai Lama followed by a short prayer services by Tibetan monks. This year, Mr. Harminder Singh was invited to share his personal experiences and association with His Holiness the Dalai Lama. He served as the political officer of Khameng District of then NEFA who was among the first Indian officials to receive His Holiness the Dalai Lama on the Indian territory in 1959. Sikyong Dr. Lobsang Sangay, democratically elected political leader of Tibetans attended the reception and spoke on the greatness of His Holiness the Dalai Lama and urged the gathering to fulfill the wishes of His Holiness’ return to his rightful place, Tibet, which will become the best story of the 21st century. A group of students from Tibetan Children’s Village School, Dharamshala presented several Tibetan musical performances.
The dinner reception was attended by more than 300 guests, including foreign diplomats. Many former and current Indian officials, politicians, diplomats and servicemen of different ranks and files, intellectuals, media personals and many well-wishers gathered to celebrate the 79th Birthday of His Holiness the Dalai Lama.
In the morning, Samyeling Tibetan Settlement in Majnukatilla celebrated 79th birth anniversary of His Holiness the Dalai Lama.
