Over 60 Tibetans arrested for protests in eastern Tibet
June 29 (RFA/NYT/TCHRD): Chinese authorities in eastern Tibetan area of Kardze have detained over 60 Tibetans following protests against Chinese rule which began on June 6 and have escalated since June 17. Those detained are both monks and laypeople.
Two monks from Kardze held a protest in the Barkhor market in Lhasa on June 22, possibly the first there since March 2008.
