China mining area collapse causes earthqu
Dec. 29 (China Media Project): Chinese media quoted a source with the earthquake monitoring body of the Shaanxi provincial government that Dec. 28 earthquake measuring 3.0, according to preliminary reports, was caused by the collapse of “empty mining areas.”
Shaanxi authorities said such earthquakes were common in the region. Shaanxi is known as the coal province of China and has a reputation of registering highest birth defects among newborn babies attributed to rampant mining.
