Mr. Jigme Tsering Formally Assumes Charge as Representative of His Holiness the Dalai Lama, New Delhi

Following the appointment of Mr. Jigme Tsering as the new Representative of His Holiness the Dalai Lama in New Delhi, the formal handover and takeover of responsibilities was held on 28 July 2026 at the Bureau of His Holiness the Dalai Lama, New Delhi.
During the ceremony, the Acting Representative Ms. Tashi Dickey, Secretary of the Bureau, formally handed over the official files and assets to the new Representative, marking the official transfer of responsibilities.
Later in the evening, a modest tea reception was hosted at the Bureau, where Mr. Jigme Tsering was formally introduced to the staff members. Prior to his appointment in New Delhi, Mr. Jigme served as the Representative of His Holiness the Dalai Lama, Brazil, Latin America.
The ceremony was conducted under the supervision of Mr. Karma Rinchen, Secretary of the Department of Information and International Relations, who served as the official witness to the proceedings.
At the conclusion of the ceremony, Kungo Karma Rinchen presented ceremonial khatags to both the Secretary and the new Representative as a gesture of goodwill and best wishes.
