3 Tibetans arrested in Nepal on Dalai Lama b’day
July 6 (VOA): Nepal banned assemblies to celebrate Dalai Lama’s birthday, citing fears of anti-Chinese demonstrations. Riot police surrounded an elementary school in Kathmandu, the celebration venue.
“Here, the government listens [to] everything, [when] the Chinese government gives them orders,” said Tsewang Dolma, president of Nepal Tibetan Youth Congress. “I can say it’s like a second Tibet, in Nepal.”
