Tibetan writer savagely beaten, disappeared
July 10 (Paul Mooney/Woeser): Chinese police in Draggo (Chinese: Luhuo) County of Karze Prefecture in Sichuan Province severely beat and arrested on Jul 5 a 25-yr-old Tibetan writer, Pema Rinchen for allegedly “inciting ethnic hatred” after he wrote a book, Look, which was highly critical of Beijing’s Tibet policy.
Rinchen, who writes under penname “Stinger”, had to be hospitalized due to serious injuries from the beatings.
